Renault is set to revive the Gordini badge for its performance models and the first model to benefit will be the Twingo Gordini RS. However, the Gordini versions will not have any more power than the existing Renaultsport models.
Renault has launched the Gordini brand as a way for customers to personalise their cars along the lines of MINI and the Fiat 500. Different alloy wheels, body colours and interior options will all be included in the Gordini catalogue, which customers will be able to choose from at their dealer when they order a new car. Some options will also be able to be fitted after the car has been delivered, such as wheels.
The first Renault to get the Gordini treatment is the Twingo RS, which will be unveiled on the Champs Elysees in Paris on 25 November. A Clio RS Gordini will follow a few months later and Renault is working on a Gordini version of the all-new Mégane RS too.
Expect Gordini's famous blue livery with twin white stripes to feature prominently, similar to the colour scheme used on some previous generation Clio RS Cup models. Other Gordini features will include additional spotlights that hark back to Gordini's race and rallying heritage from the 1960s.
